i dont rly agree with that as most bosses in this game arent any harder than bosses in other souls games and so most standard melee weapon strats are perfectly viable if you even slightly invest in them (and the relevant stats) and rebirthing those stats is stupid easy in this game. this is all aside from malenia who is kinda bullshit tbh

however the final boss in the dlc is genuinely so fucking stupid, putting malenia to shame, so in that case yeah most players are gonna have to abuse something. spirit ashes at the very least. i managed to learn his moveset like the back of my hand after dozens and dozens of attempts, to the point where i was regularly getting to the second phase without taking a hit, but the second phase is beyond ridiculous, dodging the random extra light damage during his various combos is insane lol. eventually i relented and used my mimic tear for just the second phase at which point i beat him just fine after a couple more attempts, you still have to be somewhat aggressive though so that at least some attacks target you, otherwise that mimic dies fast.

counting oot3d even though ive played through oot many many times because this was the first time i actually played through the 3ds version and i say it counts for the list >
