I just noticed the order confirmation you posted last week. It looks like you changed up some parts last minute. You switched motherboards (from ATX to microATX, from 4 RAM slots to 2), you switched processors (from i5 to Pentium), and you switched power supply and case. Is there an SSD hidden in there?

I never did take a picture of the mini desktop I just got this summer. Maybe I'll take one soon to post here.

Those should be the parts I order unless you're thinking of something Kaz posted.  And no SSD yet, but I will be getting one.  Though, I wish I had gotten an ATX mobo instead

I meant in comparison to the parts you posted earlier in that thread, but I didn't realize how long it's been since then.

Why do you wish you had gotten an ATX board? Are you referring to the lack of RAM slots, or is there something else? Some microATX boards (including the one Kaz ended up choosing) have 4 slots.

the ram slots are unfortunate, but 8gb has been great so far.

more the size.  my front fan wasn't able to reach the first fan header so

also it just looks tiny.  at least the brown pcb isn't too bad

also, it's nice nzxt tied down the preinstalled cabling, but the fact it used a zip tie meant i would have to cut it to rout the rear fan to the other fan header on the mobo lol awdood;

Here's my current main desktop:
(http://i.imgur.com/H6hfrlz.jpg)
It's pretty hard to get a picture that really shows anything without taking some stuff out. Hidden in there is a miniITX motherboard, an SSD, and one HDD.

I also have another miniITX computer that I use for a server and media player. That one is similar, but in a different case (Node 304) and without a video card.

that case is comically oversized for what would otherwise have been a mini itx build lol sillydood;

final build:

except i don't own the 480 yet, i'll get that once the aftermarket cards are out

ty icandy giggle; giggle;

also there actually aren't any leds built into the case, i temporarily illuminated it with an led flashlight for purely photogenic reasons (otherwise the window is too reflective to get a clear shot of the inside)

and the window itself is of pretty much no use to me anyway as the tower's permanent spot is an inch to the right of my desk lol sillydood;

i pulled it out again just to take that picture

looks pretty neat but oh boyo would that be insanely distracting at night lol, and i'm sure the novelty would wear of pretty quickly

tfw two days after i had already ordered my measly 8gb 2400mhz ram for $30, i found 16gb of 3000mhz for $55 smithicide;

i have space for a second module so i can always add another should i find myself needing it (right now it hasn't been constraining me at all but i also haven't really experimented with gaming yet lol), but my gourd do i regret not waiting a few days before ordering lol

also yeah i probably could have spent less on a motherboard, but there are very few options with wifi/bluetooth in the <$99 range and i'd also be limited to 2133mhz memory (i have yet to decide whether those features are worth the extra ~$50, i could very well have bought cheap external bluetooth and wifi adapters and ram frequency is apparently rarely a bottleneck)

T...turning off a PC? befuddlement

it'd still be an issue if i were playing a game or a movie or smth at night, or if for some reason i found myself needing to keep my pc on overnight, unless i could find case leds with easily accessible external controls

but really i'm just not interested enough in having an illuminated case to justify the extra expense lol, in order to even appreciate them i'd have to move the entire tower to some inconvenient location

yeah my case has a window and both the fans it came with have blue leds on them, but what gets really annoying is the front led, especially when I put it in sleep mode and it flashes.

yeah, the extra hassle of leds (even if it only amounts to fllipping an extra switch at night) sounds like it would quickly outweigh the two days' worth of novelty they would provide

yes! i guess! i just mean i've never experience moving pictures in a framerate higher than 60 fps tbh, so it's a new experience for me. so it is both very cool but very jarring because everything is ridiculously slick and smooth, whereas 6 months ago my shit would output at like 40 fps on average because of my old shit GPU (gtx 660ti)

it ended up being a good thing i got such an enormous case, the fury is 12" long lol, i'm not sure it would have fit into the one i was originally eyeing

but even so, probably about 1/2 of this case will remain empty space, it's definitely too tall for my needs

final specs:

O already invested in the build I posted in the other thread. Too lazy to copy the specs but it has been working great performance wise. Could have gone for an even smaller case but it's all good mine was pretty easy to work with and was large enough to where I didn't have to do any cable management

My computer isn't even a year old and I'm already thinking about upgrading from a Fury to a Vega GPU. sillydood;

i hope they don't suck but we'll see (god dammit amd please don't shit out yet Another Massive Disappointment)

I'm also a little tempted to upgrade my CPU at the same time, but to go from an i5 6500 to a i7 within one generation of each other would really just be an expensive e-peen enhancement with little actual performance gain.

But the Fury will be two generations old by the time Vega launches, and I think upgrading every two or three architectural generations is a lot more reasonable as easier to justify.

not playing ultra HD, just 1080p, but i do try and hit 144 fps on games that allow for it. i mean it could also just be my cpu getting too dang hot, i should do more testing. i really need to install this big bitchin fan i bought forever ago but i would need to unmount my mobo to do it, and i kind of hate my mobo so if i do that i just want to get a new one and if im doin' all that whats another 300 bucks amirite

but also my computer's spot isnt the best ventilated either, i need to move my fuckin game shelf but i got nowhere for it to go unless i get a storage unit in the baement then maybe i can move this bitch out there

oh okay i see, i just assumed you were aiming for 60

if a regular >100fps is your goal then yeah you might actually benefit from a cpu upgrade

but absolutely the only option that would make sense for you is the i7 7700k, anything else would be notably inferior in terms of price/performance for 144fps/1080p

imo ryzen has proven to be great competition in gaming for all but intel's two super-overclockers: the 7600k and the 7700k, which objectively remain the kings of the gaming hill

that being said,

Quote from: Snowy on May 10, 2017, 06:23:12 PM
way faster than my old CPU so I can't complain

looking at the benchmarx, they're actually surprisingly close

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-4690K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-1600X/2432vs3920

and you probably could have cut your costs by a further $20 or so by opting for the 1600 (non-x), since they're both overclockable out of the box anyway and the 1600 can hit up to 3.8ghz without too much trouble

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-4690K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-1600/2432vs3919

finally, i have definitely seen the 7600k available on sale for around $200-$220, but you do have to look for it, plus you'd have to buy your own cooler

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-7600K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-1600/3885vs3919

on the other hand, you get a much newer architecture/chipset, 4 extra cores, lower temperatures, ostensibly smoother gameplay, and superior desktop performance, so i think it all works out in the end lol

(http://hardwareoverclock.com/kuehler/Coolermaster_Hyper_212-026.jpg)

(not my rig, but its a CoolMaster Hyper 212 EVO)

The difference is night n FUCKIN DAY. but i was using a stock cooler before so thats really not a fucking surprise. before games would cook my god damn CPU, the fan would run at fucking BLAST OFF speeds constantly, and it would idle at the temps my cpu now is at under LOAD. fuckin' sik. i also learned that a lot of the thermal paste had wore off my stock sink so that probably wasnt helping lol but now my pc is cool and best of all its fucking quiet; shit doesnt even blast off anymore. my cpu is OC'd at 4.00 ghz but i might be able to kick it up a slight notch now heh heh

among non-overclockable i5 cpus, i think you're better off with the 7500

looking at typical canadian pricing, it's a ~10% performance increase for an ~8% price increase

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-7500-vs-Intel-Core-i5-7400/3648vs3886

as in, you can increase the performance of your entire system by 10% for 20 canadian rubles

exactly in between the 7400 and the 7500 in terms of price and performance is the r5 1500x

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-Ryzen-5-1500X-vs-Intel-Core-i5-7500/3921vs3648

out of the box, it's closer to the 7400 in general performance, but it has a few advantages:

you could probably bring the 1500x's frequency up to 3.7 or 3.8ghz (up from 3.4 by default) at no extra cost, which would bring it closer to the 7500 in performance

strictly for gaming, the 7500 is the moderately superior choice, but for hrdxxxre computing/work or heavily multithreaded games, the 1500x would be generally superior

between those two i personally wouldn't consider the 7400 at all lol, unless your budget is extremely strict

motherboard looks good, although a tad expensive (but then again i'm not familiar with canadian pricing)

ram looks good

i would personally recommend getting a small ssd for your operating systems and essential programs but if it's really out of the question, you should at the very least try to get a 7200rpm hdd lol

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/products/internal-hard-drive/#X=0,16946&S=800000,4000000&t=7200&sort=-capacity&page=1

i feel like you could spend less on a case

also isn't that disc reader kind of expe- oh wait bluray nvm lol

and finally, if you can find an r5 1600 for a similar price to the 7500, you might want to consider that, because when overclocked (and they pretty much all overclock, and it's free to overclock) it's at least equal to the 7500 in gaming benchmarks (on average), and marginally better than the 7500 in all other measures

motherboard: yeah it might be the trudeaucoins, it's described as "entry level", idk i'm going mostly with reviews here, and the alleged ease of use
MSI is out of the question because apparently they come with a lot of bloatware ugh idk

SSD: eeeeehhhhh i didn't want to discuss it but you see the reason i'm so hesitant is because i'm not dealing with an OS, but two OSes, and installing partitions on a HDD was already complicated enough for a dumbfuck like me, on a SSD it seems even more daunting and at least now with just a HDD i stay in familiar territory
tbh this whole operation is already daunting as it is and i just don't want to make it worse >.<

case: idk man that's what comes up with those parametric filters, fractal design is my E S T H É T I Q U E and the other filters aren't THAT demanding, at least four stars, no side window...
trudeaucoins, maybe?
i guess i could look one last time for another manufacturer with similar designs

overclocking: lmao no >.<

snowy: watercooling isn't out of the question, but i guess it can wait, i just don't want to spend too much at once, i'll monitor the temps and if it gets too hot i'll consider it
at least i've got the watts to spare lol

Why would it be any more difficult than partitioning an HDD? befuddlement
no, seriously, i can't imagine why it would be any different

signed, tec, who has somehow gone his entire life without needing to partition a drive sillydood;
also i find the notion of you struggling over something that's purportedly so basic kind of hilarious

aren't you a web designer, i'm sure it's not that hard lol

In any case, if you do ultimately decide against an SSD, you absolutely should not be looking at slowest-of-the-slow 5400RPM HDDs. 7200RPM is the bare minimum necessary for survival. myface;

Yeah I would recommend an SSD for your OS. I got a 120g one for like $40 a while ago. And if you do decide to overclocked, make sure you get a watercooler. An air cooler can't keep up with the heat being generated. Hell, even without overclocking my 1600X runs a bit warm.

When/how often is watercooling ever actually useful? befuddlement

i find that in the overwhelming majority of cases, the stock fan cooler is sufficient, unless you happen to be overclocking to extreme levels

and even then, you could spend like $30 on a third-party cooler and that in most cases is enough

as opposed to spending $100+ on a watercooling setup, which i feel is only ever really necessary when you, for whatever reason, need to eke every last drop of performance out of your machine, and simply buying better processors is, again for whatever reason, completely out of the question

Also keep in mind, out of the box the 1600X doesn't come with a cooler lmao. You'd have to get one separately.

which is why i would only specifically recommend the 1600, as it's $30 less (in ameribux) than the 1600x, comes with its own v. good cooler, and the overwhelming majority of 1600s can be easily overclocked to 1600x levels (and at that level it's superior to the 7500)

Oh the standard 1600 comes with one? I heard the spire wraith or w/e it's called is really good. I also heard the one that comes with the 1700 and 1800 is pretty baller as well.

yes, and it's supposedly v. good, and it's the same one that comes with the 1700 lol

the 1700x and 1800x have even better ones

and while overclocking may not be necessary, if you can reasonably overclock at no extra cost, then there's no reason not to imo

I'm probably the biggest data hoarder here. I save all the anime. And some other stuff like source code, ROMs, ISOs, VMs, etc.

I have a computer I use as a general-purpose home server for NAS, seedbox, VMs, programming, etc. It currently is filled with a bunch of drives: 2x 4TB, 2x 2TB, 1x 1TB, and an SSD. I have each 4TB+2TB pair set up in a RAID0-of-sorts (using btrfs) with automatic hourly and daily snapshots and automatic daily sync between them for backup.

I'm currently using about 4TB/6TB in that setup, with 2TB free.

My laptop and desktop have exclusively SSD storage.

I believe downloading and compiling all of AOSP (Android) consumes somewhere between 50GB-100GB. That's including source code in a working tree, git data, and intermediary build files.

I don't do this as much at home, but keeping multiple trees checked out for different major versions of Android multiplies that even bigger and can easily burn hundreds of gigabytes. Even more if multiple architectures are involved.

A full build takes 30-60mins even with 24 Xeon cores, way more than that on consumer CPUs, so keeping build artifacts is pretty important.

but yeah, just hoarding the repository data (without build files or any working copies) is probably more like 10-20GB

Quote from: Majorana's Mask on July 09, 2017, 01:32:47 PM

Probably not very. But this 4TB of used space is even after deleting a handful of shows that I've decided are awful and never worth looking at again or showing/giving to anyone. And this is even after avoiding all 1080p releases (TV anime's normally made for 720p so I think it's a waste), flac audio, and other oversized releases.

My anime folder has 280 directories at the top level, with a lot of nested subdirectories for different seasons and movies (like 10 bakemonogatari things in one, a few seasons and all the movies for pokemon in another, 9 precure shows in a third, etc)

I just saw an RX 560 4GB available to order on Amazon for $120, so I grabbed it. It's not actually in stock until Mon Jul 17 though. This is the Gigabyte one; Asus and Sapphire aren't available.

I'm still not sure whether getting a 570 instead would be worth it, but it's not in stock so whatever. I have almost a week left to cancel before it ships anyway in case I change my mind by then.

I saw a 570 in stock very briefly on Prime Day for like $230 (list price). I saw it too late to get a chance to even see whether it was eligible for any Prime discounts before it disappeared. I think $230 seems too high for that card, shouldn't it be more like $170? I think the 580 is probably worth about that much.

When I installed my watercooler, it wasn't seated correctly, I don't think. So I reinstalled it and applied better thermal paste. I also found out that because of the 20º C offset, it was tripping my mobo's thermal throttling measures.

It's finally fixed.

when i first assembled my pc, i accidentally [glow=black,2,300]added a layer of thermal paste to my cpu, on which there was already a factory-applied layer of thermal paste[/glow]

Well, it was Prime Day, so that RX 570 might've actually been at a good effective price if I had been able to check. Maybe it matched the ~$180 MSRP after Prime "discount", maybe it was even lower like $160. It's pretty typical for a sale like Prime Day to raise the base price of an item only to make a sale look more appealing than it is. It was shipped and sold by Amazon, not a third-party seller.

I don't really care enough to get a 580 and especially not Vega. Vega might even outdo what my PSU can comfortably handle. As far as I can tell, 560 significantly outperforms the PS4 and 570 beats the PS4 Pro, so that's good enough for me. I'm sticking to 1080p60 for what very little 3D PC gaming I'll ever do, so 570 would probably be ideal.

I really doubt Vega will affect the pricing of these lower-end cards.

The stock situation is bad enough that I have little reason to believe I'll get another chance in the near future. It's not like I need it right now, but I'd rather not wait months.

I believe the price I got is not driven up by demand, that's MSRP. AMD says it's $100, manufacturers turned that into $110 with the custom cooler and overclocking (that every single card happens to have), and they raise it further to $120 for the 4GB version.

i guess that doesn't seem too bad, depending on the gpu model

It's a GTX 980. At the time it was top of the line. I'm gonna wait for the 11xx's to come out before I make a decision on what to upgrade to.

a sound decision

my gpu came out in 2015 and i've been tempted to upgrade to a 1080i, but on the other hand, it's only a bottleneck in a handful of games and the 11xx series is probably less than a year away >.<

pascal came in early summer 2016

good god myface;

why are those 128gb ssds so expensive, you should be able to find ~240gb ones for those prices

also you could probably find 3200mhz ram for around that price, and for ryzen you really do want the fastest ram you can afford

what cpu do you have again? Ryzen 2xxx are getting stellar reviews rn, and GPUs on the secondhand market are dropping like a stone. I thinka  1080 these days are... about $400? I plan on picking up a 2nd 1080 and a SLI bridge for funsies.

i5 6500, which in retrospect was a poor choice even when i bought it

i should have gone for at least the 6600k, that would have probably kept me comfortable for significantly longer

oh well i've learned my lesson: never take advice from [glow=black,2,300]r*ddit[/glow] ugly;

it doesn't really make sense for me to upgrade to anything right now though because gaming performance on the ryzen side isn't nearly $400 (cpu + mobo) better than what the 6500 offers, and on the intel side, i would be crazy to """upgrade""" from a 14nm cpu to another 14nm cpu lol

i'll wait for intel's 10nm cannon lake to FINALLY arrive in 2019 (assuming they don't delay again) before i seriously consider a cpu upgrade

on the gpu side, i have a fury, and really its biggest limitation is the 4gb of vram

though again, upgrading now seems silly because pascal is so old and gpu prices so absurd and nothing short of a 1080ti would make any sense as an upgrade from a fury

so i'll just be patient and wait4volta

but it means i'll be stuck on this build for at least another year before i make any significant changes to it
but honestly i play so few cutting-edge games at launch that i hardly even feel its limitations lol

in truth, i'm just a consumerist whore :'(
Oh you have a fury? That's the one with the little watercooler right? That card is super great. I probably would have gotten one if it have more ram honestly.

the fury x is the one with the water cooler, the standard fury is just beneath the x in performance and uses traditional fan-based cooling lol

honestly it's a mostly adequate card for my needs, but the 4gb of ram really does bottleneck it sometimes

what was amd thinking

if it'd had even 6gb it'd have much greater longevity

It's hard to believe my own is now over 3 years old. SocksDood;

i'd say it's about time for an upgrade, but gpu prices right now are absolute arse and while cpu options are better they're still not quite good enough to justify the cost of a new motherboard

guess i'll just wait for the ddr5 era.................

new case with tempered glass
a ryzen 2700
liquid cooler
32bg of ram

beyond that, actually managed my cable this time around so it looks nice lol

i did this in prep to grab a new GPU this upcoming year, however AMD's GPU showing this year was kinda meh, and the NVIDIA Super line is pretty underwhelming from the rumors thus far. But maybe if Super pushes the 20XX line's price down a bit, MAYBE, but probs waiting til 2020 now on that lol.

I'm considering maybe building a PC in the Fall, here's what I came up with:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LKxP29

The first one I did was like $600 more expensive, mostly because I had a different graphics card and a different case.
Dunno if I should get a better monitor or just deal with the one I have currently since it's not super horrible.

Opinions? Too much? anything else I need to consider?

what exactly makes the 3900X not worth the money though? If it's super great and all, it should last me longer, right?
I didn't really know what I was looking for in regards to a processor cooler so if there's a better one that's decent priced lemme know

kind of, but not really? like the issue is it's too good. unless you're doing specific cpu-demanding stuff on your rig you're never going to utilize it's full potential. the extra potential isn't really going to expand it's utility years from now in any meaningful way; you'll be looking at an upgrade around the same time whether you go 3700x or the 3900x really. most games are far more GPU dependent these days anyway.
also without a high-end cooling solution too, you're decreasing your ability to ever hit that max potential anyway. i think for a decently high end gaming focused rig though, the cooling you've got is probably fine.

the 570 would be a big upgrade and the 580 a huge one, and then the 590 would be more than 2x the performance of your current card hocuspocus;

literally anything else? lol
$150 is pretty tight for a new GPU though. you're gonna have to wait for a nice lil sale or buy used at that budget
the RX 580 is probably your best bet if that's your budget for max gains compared to a 760. there's been sales that have been putting it around $150 new; i'd keep a look out for one
if you can save more dosh, the rtx 2060 keeps dipping below $300 and would be a much heftier upgrade.

HURRY GET THIS WHILE YOU CAN

https://www.newegg.com/sapphire-radeon-r9-fury-100379ntoc-sr/p/N82E16814202340

that's the absolute most power you can get for $125 by far lol

and the 90 day warranty is better than the 0 day warranty you'd get out of a used card

otherwise these ($190) are equally as powerful but have 2x the vram

https://www.newegg.com/sapphire-radeon-rx-590-100415p8gl/p/N82E16814202333

https://www.newegg.com/xfx-radeon-rx-590-rx-590p8dfd6/p/N82E16814150817

on the nvidia side the closest equivalent is the 1660 which is ~$220

but if you genuinely can't afford to spend more than $150 and don't want that furry then a used 580 is easily your best bet, it's only ~10% less powerful than the fury but also has 2x the vram

https://www.newegg.com/msi-radeon-rx-570-rx-570-armor-mk2-8g-oc/p/N82E16814137291

but the difference in power between the 570 and the 590/fury is like 30%

had issues with powering up my pc as a whole
until i learned- after plugging in back and forth the main power connector and the f panel cables again and again, that i can just take out the cable for the power switch and literally stick a screwdriver in it for a second so it can boot up

the thing is, lmao what is my next step to make things back to normal??? i dont want to use my screwdriver to turn it on every time

also, the gtx 1060 is so much better on temperature and sound wise holy shit, that rx 580 was steaming hot shit

i just wanted to show u guys what was up
bc it actually works
only have to do it for a second

i actually spent HOURS trying to figure out wtf was going on bc i KNEW that i put it all together correctly and seeing that it wouldnt turn on after putting in the new cpu, just bewildered me to hell
>wasn't any of the cables from the power supply
>9th gen cpu actually works on my mobo so dont know why it wouldnt start up
>in the end, turns out it was the fuckin TOWER that was screwing it up
after learning all it took was putting your screwdriver/anything metal to the prongs of where the power sw cable should be hooked on, i've been good this whole time

im prob gonna get to the power button when i have more time and have it worked on or smth, but for now ive just been putting it to sleep so i dont have to do it so much.  actually i havent turned it off since lmao

but yea anyway damn my gtx 1060 has been so cool using, cannot believe ive let myself be on low graphics for so long lmao

i'm sure i'll upgrade it at some point but honestly i never have more than 200gb filled up so it doesn't seem super necessary.

bought an asus KO 3060ti
this thing is nuts for streaming, never could stream a game at 1080 without some stuttering
processing videos might even be better (i like archiving my gameplay, idk)
$487 with taxes, s&h

felt like i shouldnt have financially, but I know that it's basically an investment since crypto can go up at any time, and plus, this is the cheapest I could find this GPU, which used to be about $1,200-$1,400

idk what im gonna do with my old 1060, might honestly keep it and hope to sell it at a higher price

despite being previously apprehensive about buying the 3060ti
it definitely was a quality of life change for content making, archiving plays, rendering vids, streaming, and ofc gaming, even if i dont play anything too intense

still need to sell that gtx 1060 lol

i got a new cpu Ryzen 7 5800X3D a few months ago but other than that haven't upgraded my pc since radeon rx vega came out maybe like 5(?) years ago which i bought on release, don't regret the purchase but i think i severely overpaid for it as there were stock shortages when it first came out

other than that i built a pc for my wife last week so we can play games together which is near enough identical to strongbad pc with the 3600 and 5700-xt, B550 motherboard, 1 tb storage and two monitors. rather than building from scratch i kinda just repurposed my old pc that had a R9 390 and AMD FX cpu and made some upgrades so I didn't have to buy the case, power supply, etc. spent about 550 pounds overall (about $700), mostly used parts.

honestly our specs are plenty enough for just about anything these days, no need to spend a mountain of cash on the latest gen i feel like it's only really for enthusiast people who care about 4k gaming. have been a bit tempted by OLED monitors tho to be fair, they look pretty damn nice and i'm getting a bit fed up of always having monitors with washed out colours but they cost more than the price of my whole setup

Currently set up a little fund to start a new computer build.  giggle;

For now I don't have much locked in. I'm debating between the 4070 and 7800 XT. Honestly not sure at all in terms of processor that I want.... I need to remind myself that I'm probably not going to be playing the most intensse games ever on it. I really want it so the games I do play play extremely much more smoothly than my rapidly obsolescing PC I built at the beginning of this thread. But I don't need top of the line bleeding edge for everything.

I haven't settled on a monitor yet, but I'm eyeing the new Alienware ones. They look mighty nice, or maybe Dell will be nice and make a Dell-branded variant that's slightly cheaper.

I think I'm going to aim for the Fractal North for case. My current case is ooookkkkaaaay. It definitely lacks modern cooling considerations and honestly I don't need a bunch of HDD and drive bays taking up the front third of the space.

I don't think I'll do much in terms of gaudy RGB lighting. At least not inside the case, it seems mostly pointless.

Games I'll probably be playing the most:
American Truck Simulator
Euro Truck Sim
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
GTAV
RDR2
I'm intrigued by Starfield and def don't want to buy an Xbone just to play it
Cities Skylines 2

Yeah, I thought about it. But I also want a better computer than I have now.

Like getting the Steam Deck+Laptop could be an option, but so many non-shite laptops are so overpriced and would basically put me back to where I would be spending it on a decent computer set up lol :(

good choice on the fractal north i've been eyeing up it for a while now it's honestly such a nice looking case definitely gonna get me one of those at some point as well

i think for the processor, if i were in your position i would just go for anything in the ryzen 7000 series like a 7600x or 7800x3d if you want a bit more, but TBH i don't think the difference between the two would be super noticeable. and if AM4 is anything to go by, getting in on AM5 now will leave you plenty of upgrade potential without having to replace your motherboard and RAM too

Yeah, I've been eyeing the 7600X, it seems to be a nice sweet spot and like you said hopefully AM5 won't be a dead platform in 1-3 CPU gens

Honestly pretty hype about the prospect of building a new computer lol
