yeah so i was retarded and didn't back up and finally felt like wanting to transfer all of my music onto my new ipod
then my old ipod blinked that apple support link with an image of a dead ipod
does that mean all of my music's screwed
IS THERE ANYWAY TO GET IT BACK
i don't even care about playback or anything at all
i just want my tunes back to transfer them cry;
it will depend on whether the hard drive is dead, or it's some other issue
you can turn the ipod on and hold it up to your ear and listen for a clicking noise. if you hear clicking, drive is dead and you're fucked, try throwing it at a wall as a last resort
if it sounds normal (lil buzzing, disk spins up, then just makes operatin noises), then there will be some way to recover the data. the easiest way would be (and it's not really that easy lol) get another identical ipod and swap the hard drive into it
it's also possible that the ipod isn't really dead at all but the software on it just got fucked up, so you can try connecting it to a computer and seeing if any disk drives show up
get an external hard drive to store all your music next time, bitch.
why don't you keep a copy of your music on your computer like everyone else?

because i kept waiting too long to get another external drive MY ORIGINAL ONE HAD MY MOVIES AND TORRENTS
now i'll probably have to wait like a year for me to carelessly waste money to attempt to make my ipod alive again
i'm guessing the cable doesn't work because i scratched it cry;
