hmmm befuddlement

for the most part i actually like that each state can have its own individual flag and state symbols lol

however, many of the state flags are absolutely disgusting and don't adhere to the general principles of vexillology at all

state flags are fine but hideous state flags are a national embarrassment and should be illegal

  • policing

really out to be a federal power

police agencies in america aren't divided just by state, but often by county and even town

that means there are well over 3,000 distinct police agencies in the us

california alone has over 500 police departments

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_law_enforcement_agencies_in_California

goonish

not only is this a complete, astronomical waste of money, but it also means that actual policy can vary widely and enforcement of law can be unpredictably inconsistent from one police department to another, and it also means that 'the police' as a whole are extremely difficult to regulate and manage because 'the police' don't exist as a whole to begin with

how could we ever possibly hope to establish a single regulatory authority over the collective us police force when it's made up of over 3,000 disparate departments that are only very loosely tied to one another and practically answer to themselves alone

a modest proposal: NATIONALIZE THE POLICE
wow tec is now a nationalist

Daddy

wait until tec sees how many federal law enforcement agencies there are

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_law_enforcement_in_the_United_States

surely taking local police department control out of local governments and handing it to bureaucrats in a federal building in a small area near DC will solve the problems

Daddy

also how should the tax code be federalized?

we already have federal taxes.  are you suggesting that states shouldn't have the discretion to levy income, property, or sales taxes, and provide deductions, where applicable, when filing taxes?

Iowa and New York City surely have the same tax needs mirite

even from a wacky neolib econ standpoint, you probably recognize the need for local governments to incentive certain behavior with deductions and credits.
