You can download an extension to make it go faster.
To change your homepage, go to Tools>Options>Main
CTRL + T opens a new tab.
You can also set it so it opens in a new tab every time you click a link.

Where can I get the extension?

Just search for FasterFox on google.

Also, Tools>Options>Tabs>Check "New pages should be opened in: New tab."
Every time you click a link, it'll open in a new tab.
Very convenient.

I tried downloading one of the themes, and it said I needed to restart Firefox, and I did. But all I see is the same default theme.

Now go to tools > Add ons. Then find the theme, and select "use theme". You'll have to restart Firefox again.
