bikes are fuckin cool
damn you have expensive tastes. love salsas. friend of mine has a fargo and i'm jealous of it every time we go on rides. pretty much all of these are sick. my current go fast bike is a BMC Roadmachine but i almost went with an Canyon Ultimate. i think i would have been just as happy with the canyon tbh, both brands make such cool bikes.

agreed i think touring bikes are maybe the coolest bikes. i think the meta for me is one bike that i can go really fast on for day rides and general exercise and then one bike that i use for every other aspect of my life. been thinking about moving parts from my gravel bike over to one of these

lol yeah i can (unfortunately) relate to hiro on this one. always try to go budget with whatever i'm getting into but always get swayed by the shiner and more expensive alternatives

yeah that's what happens when I just look at shit without looking at the prices at all  sillydood; I was looking at the roadmachine too actually, they look really good. those crust bikes look pretty neato too, what do you use currently?
I'd say for me I just want one bike that's mainly for transportation/touring but can still be used just for fun, and can handle some light trails. it's weird to me how there's so many different categories of bike and i can only tell the difference between a few

yeah generally that's true, but I save money by just not buying things ever if I can help it  goodjob;  I'd rather just wait to get the thing I really want instead of settling for alternatives that i'd ultimately want to replace

luckily i'm not in the market for a bike at the moment, but here's what I have right now: https://www.liv-cycling.com/us/alight-2-city-2018

Agreed- it is total overkill. "Gravel Bikes" are the hot thing right now, and they're basically just touring bikes that can take wider tires.

Right now the only two bikes in my apartment are my Road Machine 02 Two Disc

And my DiamondBack Haanjo

I also have a Surly Pacer and an All City Big Block but both of those are in my dad's storage unit waiting to be sold.

I built up the Surly Pacer last summer to commute on (ended up swapping out every component for Campy Record bits that I harvested off of a Ciocc that my friend gave me when he left town) but realized that a gravel build would be just as good for commuting and I could also use it for gravel-oriented rides with my friends (all they care about lol). Found the Diamondback on Craigslist for $800 and snagged it up. Bike is awesome- I can run 700cx47mm tires with fenders (up to 2.1" without) but I'm tempted to move all the components over to a nice steel frame like a Crust, just because I don't like having a carbon bike as my "do everything" bike. I have nothing against carbon bikes (love my road machine) but I realized that I like steel for commuting since I can be a bit rougher with it.

I'm kind of going full circle where for a while I had like 5 bikes and I realized that it was just overkill for the riding that I was actually doing. I think two bikes is the sweet spot for my current living situation and I can capture pretty much all the styles of riding that I'm interested in. If some day I find myself living near mountain bike trails I wouldn't be opposed to owning an enduro rig as well.

bikes

Hiro

damn son those are some fancy bikes, I like the green thumbup;
I guess a gravel bike would be pretty useful generally, mountain biking is super popular here since I do live in a mountain town, but personally it doesn't really interest me at all. Plus whenever I go hiking the bikers come barreling through and it's p. annoying
