Web 2.0 is so hard to do. I don't understand how people think Boyah could do it.

i have an r9 380 and i haven't even gotten to fucking use it akudood;

C.Mongler

u gotta plug it in first

Hiro

someday i'll build an actual pc

assuming amd's claims about this card aren't quite as exaggerated as any reasonable person should expect them to be, the 480 will be the basis of my upcoming build happydood;

i'm a tad skeptical of what i've been hearing about its purported power only because amd has a historical penchant for overpromising and underdelivering, but even if it only turns out to be a streamlined, more power-efficient reissuing of the r9 390, at $200 that's still pretty good

i'm a man of simple tastes, all i want for the time being is a competent 1080p/60fps machine

however,

you'll be able to play most games for the next like 3 or so years on ultra at 1080p GODDAM

the fact that consoles are now getting massive mid-gen upgrades (themselves using the latest amd cards, perhaps even modified 480s) has me a tad concerned that this might no longer be the case in the near future

also the witcher 3 is an example of a recent game that struggles to achieve a steady 1080p/60fps with mid-range cards comparable to the 480, but hopefully games like witcher 3 remain the exception rather than the rule for some time

2k will be the gaming sweet spot

2k is 1080p which is last gen's sweet spot, maybe

now if anything we're moving on to 2.5k

C.Mongler

i mean that's a fuck load of speculation for consoles that are still over a year off, while we're what, months from the 480? especially given that the buzz is still "don't worry everything will work on el classico versions of xbone and ps4!!", i can't imagine new games are really going to push the 480 out of the high end 1080p/60fps range in the next few years. regardless we still need 48- benchmarks to really judge at the end of the day anyway lol

also god dammit i missed the EVGA in-stock alert for the overclocked 1070s by like 30 minutes yesterday, didn't get one :(

C.Mongler

for a brief second i had an evga 1070 superclocked in my cart on newegg. and of course it sold out fucking instantly so now i still dont have my graphics card, even at this stupid ass launch markup.

god nvidia really fucked the ball with this paper launch lol

C.Mongler

just got a msi OC 1070 FUCK YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

just in time for that fuckin' steam sale. can't wait to get this bitch in my rig and fire up some Witcher 3 expansions at glorious 100 FPS 1080p god i'm getting a rager thinkin' about it

Kalahari Inkantation

the 480 came and went and of course underwhelmed exactly as predicted

and then two weeks later, before the 480 was even practically available for purchase to the average gamer, nvidia released the objectively superior 1060 in high quantities for just $10 more lol

so glad i got a fury

but in other news, it sounds like the PS4HD™ is going to use an underclocked 480

which leads me to wonder what the xbox 1.5 will be using, as microsoft has unambiguously claimed that it'll render games at 4k natively, but there's not a single amd gpu (or affordable nvidia gpu) on the market capable of pulling that off at playable speeds while maintaining decent graphical fidelity

i'm boycotting amd for appropriating failed social movements

yeah the only thing stopping me from trying VR is the entry cost of a VR setup

that and there's like not even a single killer app for it yet lol
