I don't think that would necessarily confirm him... He looks to be behind the characters, less detailed, and lacks a shadow. Could just be background

or just read the rest of my post: I outright said that the screenshot I posted indeed uses toon link as merely a background object

We had that screenshot since E3 when the site was put up with Pikachu's page and, because of it, I (and probably many other people) previously doubted Toon Link would return as playable
