but jesus, now xbox live looks vastly superior in comparison to psn simply because it'll be compatible with previous generations of itself, this is an enormous handicap

my complaints are similar to those any other consumer would have, though, so sony'd better listen up

and that psn thing especially really isn't something that can be easily overlooked, that's just downright inexcusable and hurts their business at least as much as it hurts consumers

i was about to agree with you tec but again i realized that of course it's not possible see as the system architecture is entirely different. the original quote says they would like to make them playable in some form though, probably meaning through streaming. hopefully that ends up being a real option.

that doesn't make it any more excusable

this is entirely sony's fault for not having the foresight to think that maybe this might be a possibility if the ps3 were to use such radically different architecture from anything else before it

but no, they were arrogant and stupid enough to think that the cell would be SUCH a successful piece of technology that everybody and their mothers would want to use it in their own game consoles and telephones and televisions and computers and refrigerators and toasters and there would never be any compatibility issues like this because the cell would ~redefine the standard~ and of course the ps4 would use the technology as well

obviously that didn't happen, the cell was a complete and utter failure, and sony's unwavering megalomania is 100% the reason the ps4 will be a woefully incomplete platform
