even though they both are making a Y shape you can tell that the deer is the legendary for X and the bird is the legendary for Y
I hate those names, but the game does look pretty decent. I'm glad they're not trying to keep the tiny characters, since I felt that looked a little weird in the DS games. They work so well as 2D sprites, but for 3D I think the full-modeled look they're doing looks pretty good. Since the 3DS has a thumbpad I hope you aren't locked into up/down/left/right movement like the older games, but the trailer makes me think you are.
The three starters don't look very good, but they almost never do. Here's hoping the evolutions as well as the rest of the new pokemon are decent.
I thought black and white were great steps in the right direction, so I hope they continue down that path.

The worldwide release is also really cool. Hopefully I can buy a 3DS XL by the time Animal Crossing comes out and I'll get this as well.

One of those cities seems to be based on Paris (Eiffel Tower-looking building in background at 0:27, Pikachu starts video from the Eiffel Tower as well) plus a lot of the "fancy" designs seen, and the character's outfits (I think you can see the girl protagonist at 0:26 and 0:28) it seems like the map is based on France or Europe as a whole
Also at 0:27 it looks like the protagonist is rollerskating.
