I'm agreeing that the Republican Party isn't very conservative.

>being libertarian
>implying republicans don't do everything in their power to swell up the size of the government to retarded proportions
>implying they don't waste ever single dollar on dumb shit

goonish
Democrats are shitty too but at least they try to invest a little bit of it on sensible things like health care. akudood;
and how and why exactly are you "conservative." american conservatism is really nothing more than theocracy and why would you think this is a good idea akudood;

american conservatism basically boils down to "we should be free to do whatever is decent according to my morals and everything else is sick and wrong and those people need jesus and jail"

Also, libertarianism doesn't work when there's a large class divide, as in the US. akudood;

but how the fuck would voting for republicans be a good idea if you identify as libertarian. the only "right" they support is the right to own guns and shoot every living thing on your property goonish

obama and bush are neoliberals... the right just rebrands neoliberalism as "neoconservatism" because liberal is a taboo word

I'm probably the only member of this forum who will vote for Romney.

I'm a registered independent.

what the i don't even

i will never understand why ron paul people would prefer to vote for obama over romney

obama and paul are like the antithesis of each other

Well, it's a matter of not liking being lied to. It's also a matter of the gender that I am compared to the one that you are. Romney has turned "the big tent" into a giant rug that he keeps sweeping demographic groups under.  Under that big ole rug, Ron Paul supporters keep me in good company.
Hmph.

LOL

What's been traditionally liberal has been adopted by the cons and what's been traditionally conservative has been adopted by the libs. There's no pigeonholing anybody anymore via old definitions. What used to be Dixiecrats remain Dixiecrats even though they switched parties.
Hmph.

 I still can't even fathom how someone who doesn't make $500,000 a year or more can possibly want Mitt Money to be in charge of giving tax cuts to the rich.  akudood; I'm all for varied ideas but Jesus, Mitt is a walking corporation and putting him in charge of monitoring government expenses, regulation laws, and taxes is scary.

That's a nice strawman you've set up. I never said the GOP isn't in favor of big government, nor did I imply that are fiscal stalwarts. All I meant is that I prefer that the Republican Party be in power instead of the Democratic Party. I wasn't making a ringing endorsement of the GOP.

let's try this again

i do not like the republican party. i think that are fiscally irresponsible twats who are far too focused on gay marriage and abortion when they should be concerned with the fact this nation is deep financial shit.

but they are better on fiscal issues than the democratic party, and therefore i vote for republican candidates in most cases because of the reality of our politics, which is that there are no viable third parties. when it comes down to a decision between a shitty candidate and a really shitty candidate, i will always opt for the less shitty one.

this is not a foreign concept to liberals, either. i would say there are many on the left, socialists in particular, who vote for barack obama because they feel he is the less shitty candidate, not because they feel he will actually implement the policies they want.

do you honestly believe this  akudood;

Every time a non-republican has some proposal for balancing the budget, it's destroyed down in the republican-dominated house and they label it the worst idea of all time. Once election day comes around, they say they had a great idea for balancing the budget but the democrats ruined it. e.g. paul ryan's bullshit lies about america's credit rating dropping because of obama when it was really him and his dipshit party: http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/08/30/paul-ryan-and-his-little-white-lies/

also, "obamacare" actually saves quit a bit of money ( http://thinkprogress.org/health/2012/07/03/510349/study-medicaid-expansion-saves-states-billions/?mobile=nc ) and forces insurance companies to not be as goddamn greedy and wasteful. GUESS WHAT POLITICAL PARTY WANTS TO DISMANTLE IT akudood;

Also, guess what political party is most actively pushing for an expensive war with Iran and saying we need to throw even unquestioning more support to almighty lord Israel. akudood;

also, what party wants to cut if not abolish taxes for large businesses and the rich and let the country fall even farther into debt with no way of paying it off akudood;

spoilers: rich people don't create jobs. they make a business to make money for themselves and only have as many people as they need to maximize profit. lowering taxes for the rich does not mean they'll benevolently offer everybody a well-paying job. they do the opposite. the late 1800s to 1930s are covered in history class for good reasons. akudood;

now tell me what republicans do that make them a more reasonable financial choice

Nah, be more fiscally responsible.  Declare war on Iran while cutting taxes.
