There’s a good amount of construction going on around my school lately. It’s inconvenient.

Parking’s a hassle and the air smells like tar and shit and there’s this constant White grey noise everywhere except for the middle of campus where everyone sort of huddles in a circle with earbuds in and cellphones out in fetal positions.

So amid the smoke and even thicker, whiner atmosphere is this guy. His name will be Mark.

I hate to stereotype, but I also hate it when people directly attempt to fill those stereotypes. Mark’s a carrot tanned behemoth. He’s also a loudmouth, derogatory, degenerate piece of shit.
Mark is walking on the wrong side of the path (Although, is there really a right side? Well, there is...A left side too. But, who decided that walking on sidewalks and paths should mimic driving styles?) amid this group of mini-Mark’s and he bumps a meaty shoulder into this really tiny girl.

The girl does one of those real comical spins, you know, but regains her composure and looks back at Mark and says

“Excuse me.”

Not to antagonize or anything. Not to accept blame for the collision either. Just “excuse me”.

And Mark looks back and says “Fuck you bitch”. Just like that.

So, still wrapped up in his little victory, through the fucking guffaws from his posse, Mark misses the massive orange signs on the sidewalk and plants a fat foot directly into some wet, juicy, fresh concrete.

The construction workers begin yelling as Mark shakes drying concrete off of his foot.

I don't have a day off. I work thirty five hours a week to pay for the fifteen credits I'm taking while also bumping around a few hours each week for my internship. It's exhausting and overwhelming, but so rewarding. Going to cut the work hours to keep my sanity flowing in the right direction, so that'll be nicer.

I'm making mad in-rows and connections and doing things that I didn't think I would have been able to do a year ago.

Putting together a research proposal aimed at studying student apathy for some credits (with possibility for funding) and that's eating time too.

And reading. Lots of reading.

But tonight's my "turn off the phone and stay indoors with a bottle of rum" night.

Sounds like good times, with a healthy dose of overworked thrown in.

What are you doing at your internship? What kind of stuff you trying to get into?

edit: just read your reply in serious discussion goowan

I was writing copyright for a little bit. Didn't last too long.

I actually took on a project doing dialogue for an android app. Kind of out of my element a little bit, but it payed very well. I'm still putting a few hours a week into it.
