i started watching Rainbow...and so far i don't really like it much lol

it's supposed to be some sort of "adult" show about prison but even just from two episodes so far it just seems like an overly melodramatic Power of Friendship show...with character designs that are all over the place, ranging from acceptable to bizarrely out of place or hideous. also the op and ed are really bad.

we'll see what becomes of this show, i guess. most people seem to really like this show a lot, but i did notice some reviews that seem to fall more in line with my complaints, and one of them did say that the first seven or so episodes are the worst, and that it gets a lot better ultimately saving the show from being too bad. so hopefully he's right.

I just watched Sengoku Basara, the Last PArty. was pretty good, and i watched Nunnally in Wonderland.
was pretty stupid, but enjoyable.

Finally got around to finishing Dennou Coil, which I started ages ago but for some reason just stopped watching it about 1/3 of the way through. I don't even know why I stopped.

It was a wonderful show. It's original, creative, beautiful to look at, all the characters are likable, and the show is at its absolute best for about the last ten episodes.

Honestly, my only major complaint is that...while the first part of the series is great, and I enjoy its laid-back nature and the Ghibli playfulness of it, there are some times when it really, idk, just sort of gets a bit dull. In particular, there are two episodes I could have more or less done without. So yeah, sometimes the pacing can be a bit weird...which may cause some people to find the last part a bit jarring because it moves a lot faster and it's not the cyberpunk slice-of-life that the show might have seemed to be for a while.

Really though, that's only enough for me to say that it maybe doesn't deserve a 10. It might honestly be pretty close to one, though. I gave it a 9.

Finished Minami-ke.

It's a "Banchou" show
I really enjoyed it, and when i rate it, I will give it a solid 8.
The reason for an 8 and not higher is strictly because it's just another one of those shows that
has no point really, but that's any good comedy, i think. like any slice-of-life/comedy, ther's no real
story progression, so I can never bring myself to score them any higher than 8.
But i really liked it a lot, as Kaz can probably vouch for.
(i told him i was gonna wear a shirt with "I am Boss" written on it for Sacanime.)

i guess i can kind of look past escaflowne's many flaws and give it an 8/10 :'(
