maaaan this game gets a lot less fun when you're consistently playing with people who are better than you
there are so many things that i need to implement into my game if i want to get to the next level, like jabs, lightshielding (more), wavelanding more consistently (basically only a problem with doc. i'm pretty consistent with marth) and fucking DI on everything
and i have so many match-ups that i need to learn better. also i need to stop instinctively cc-ing peach's dsmash ugh

still really love melee though
i wish other boyagers played competitively :(

Also, how do you even get involved with competitive Melee?

For me personally, I played a lot in the dorms last year. A friend of mine and myself decided to learn advanced stuff so we could destroy everyone else we played with. In doing this, we got really into melee (probably playing around 2 hours a day with just the two of us) and I started following competitive melee and browsing smash boards frequently.
Kind of funny actually, since I directly credit melee to my friendship with this individual, who is one of my best friends in college.

Samus Aran

nyerp just stop looking at this thread

seriously every time you do, you'll see strongbad posting about his hardcore melee playing and such, which apparently frustrates you a lot, so you should probs just stop bothering to look in here

It's the internet. Don't worry about it

installed project m today:

it's really fucking easy (doesn't even require a hacked wii, just a copy of brawl and an sd card) and makes brawl suck a lot less
playing with brawl characters is kind of weird but it's pretty sweet overall. i'm excited to bring it to melee club today to see what everyone thinks about it

You could always pick which form you start as? huhdoodame;

I personally use Brawl+ (though I've found no noticeable difference besides being able to pick which form you start as). But bring Brawl- for silly times. sillydood;

use project m to make brawl less brawly and therefore a better game

brawl- is pretty cool though

You couldn't directly pick Zero Suit Samus, etc.
You could if you held down a button...

And there aren't any other characters you couldnt directly select
