looking around on the net for "gateway gundams," the most common suggestions seem to be...

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam (this is the original series)
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (this was the one that was first really popular on Toonami)
Gundam SEED

the first two are part of the "original" timeline, so to speak
Wing is sort of in its own, along with Endless Waltz
SEED is part of another alternate timeline, noted for being quite similar to the original timeline

there is so much of this stuff it's ridiculous
