Samus Aran

also wrench i considered voting for klowns, but i felt more strongly about the room, troll 2, and plan 9 (the essential ed wood film)

besides, i've already seen klowns before in its entirety

uhh completely wrong? that's like what.

look at how half the choices don't even fit the theme.

You just happen to have a stricter personal definition of the genre.

Except for Bee Movie and the Boyah Awards, which were both suggested tongue-in-cheek, I'd say they all correspond at least loosely.

Samus Aran

not really? i'm not even going by a personal definition, i'm going by the general standards

A B movie is a low-budget commercial motion picture that is not definitively an arthouse or pornographic film.

WOW LOW-BUDGET AND COMMERCIAL?  THAT'S ALL IT TAKES!!!!!

Samus Aran

just about anyone who watches b-movies could tell you that those disney animated films aren't b-movies.

never mind the fact that jmv and boognish agree with me doodhuh;

either way the room wins so i guess i don't care, but christ you guys are annoying sometimes

honestly, just because a couple suggestions didn't fit the theme to a t, i don't see why this didn't work out better.  we had a clear winner in the theme selection and we have what looks to be a clear winner for film that is to the liking of the b movie 'purists'.   giggle;

yay, three persons giggle;

you're hilarious, thyme

they may have been direct-to-vhs/dvd, but those sequels were cleanly animated, with re-hired professional actors, made by the richest studios in the world, with professionally done scores and a hell of a lot of marketing

there's no "camp" factor in them whatsoever, despite throwaway plots

especially not return of jafar since that wasn't even that badly done at all in the first place

well yeah i'm fine with the end result, i just think that this was all arranged extremely sloppily and it's annoying

sloppily?  you mean like how you arbitrarily declared last week's winner without even closing the poll to prevent a tie?  giggle;

yes, like that. i never said i did any better last time. i'm not sure why you'd think i would argue with that.

i didn't think you'd argue with it.  i'm just saying that this week is an improvement over last week.

of course it still isn't perfect, but we'd never get to being perfect if we didn't make changes.  if anybody has better suggestions, that would probably help rather than just saying, 'it was sloppy'.

Samus Aran

well my suggestion is basically just that we go back to freely suggesting whatever movies pop into mind, regardless of theme, next week

perhaps we could bring themes back up now and then, though, depending on how long we keep doing movie night

There's a certain asthetic to a "b" movie that has nothing to do with what you'd define it as and, I dont know, isn't very quantifiable. And looking at it has nothing to do with being a purist or anything, but everything to do with just wanting to actually fit the motif that was suggested.

It's like saying we should watch goodfellas when someone suggests a sci-fi.

But regardless, lets mell-o. This is supposed to be something kind of fun and to get people into films or genres that they aren't necessarily that familiar with. Don't make the process something that ruins the endgame just because your suggestion isn't considered as much as another.

Edit* I think we should go back to just random suggestions as well. It worked.

But, lets limit suggestions to one per person. Things get too cloudy with too much choice.
