I think he meant to say theories, I can say the Earth is round, and someone says the Earth is flat, two theories but we know for a fact one is valid and one is not because we base our life around the scientific method for everything. The way I see it is that you can't just choose what you think makes more sense and expect your explanation to be credible without any sort of solid ground.
