It's nothing special (just a fifty inch Sanyo that was only 800 bucks), but it's an HDTV. Dad and I went out to Wal-Mart to get one since college football season is here and we don't get ABC ever since the switch to digital. We still need to get some high-def cables, but I'm excited. We're thinking about buying a top-level TV for the living room and putting this one upstairs in a few months when it's paid off and Dad has a little more money.

I hooked my 360 up using the component cables that came with it that I haven't been able to use until now, and though I'm just playing in 720p, it looks pretty damn nice. How much of a step up is HDMI over component cables? Is it worth it?

Any other recommendations?

HDMI is up to 1080p. IIRC Component can only do 1080i/720p.

p is always better than i.

Also with HDMI there's only 1 thick cable instead of 5 or so when using anything else.

My 360 looks so beautiful in 1080p on my 100+ inch projector :)

yes, hdmi is very much worth it. looks so much better over the regular cables, plus the fact it's one cord instead of 3 makes it worth the $5-10.
