i liked ep 8 more than 7 but the stuff with finn and the new girl sucked and was pointless
Yeah This is really my biggest complaint and seems to be the most common across the web.

I feel like between that and the one Chewbacca scene PETA funded a big portion of the movie
no that was Disney being Disney my dude

i liked it too

Thyme

i enjoyed it as well
but i definitely understand some of the criticism it gets
rose exists solely to give finn something to do in this movie

but i was still thoroughly entertained, even by the finn+rose scenes
i kinda agree, but my major complaint honestly was
i felt that Leia living was kind of a cop-out and felt the whole scene was poorly put together.
Samus Aran

yeah it was great but i do kinda agree with that point. in addition:
tbh everything finn and rose do is ultimately pointless and that's kind of a bummer. the film is a lot of things happening that result in people being right back where they started with little to nothing accomplished lol. idk it's weird. while i don't inherently dislike their subplot, the way it's written baffles me.

The casino scene dragged but wasn't the worst thing ever

The only thing i disliked about Rose and Finn was her crashing into his skimmer. Finn was going to go out the hero he was always trying to avoid being! That crash should have killed them both. Dragging an injured woman a mile back to base over open flat terrain with a bunch of walkers overlooking the battlefield should be instadeath. "We're going to win this war not by killing what we hate but saving who we love" is the dumbest line ever and makes no sense in a war. If Luke doesn't show up they're all dead because of that and she would have saved no one.

Also saw Black Panther. Was kind of eh to me. Didn't live up to my own hype for it

Hiro

Definitely overhyped but I still thought it was really good, top 5 Marvel flicks at the least

Also recently saw a bunch of Best Picture nominees:
The Shape of Water - really good production value, good acting etc but I didn't think the fish-man relationship was developed very much really, 4/5
Phantom Thread - incredibly pretty but man the plot was just blehhh 3/5
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri - just sad shit on top of sad shit on top of infuriating shit, good acting and good story, 4/5
Call Me By Your Name - lots of degenerate shit but good lord what a pretty movie and that main kid was fantastic, 5/5
Lady Bird - really excellent coming-of-age story, really relatable, got emotional at times, 5/5
Dunkirk - very intense, glad I saw it in a theater but it was hard to follow with the pointless time-jumps, thick accents heard from a distance, and half the characters looking the same, 3/5

My pick is Call Me By Your Name for Best Picture

strongbad

also saw ladybird- liked it a lot.
