The only "slow" programs I've used are things written in Java(Java's fault, it's slow as fuck regardless of the OS since it uses a virtual machine) and Adobe programs.  Everything else is instantaneous.

I'm not normally one to say this, but that's a pretty stupid opinion.

I'm on a Macbook Pro right now. It's the fastest computer I've ever been on. It's extremely easy to use. I don't see what's so bad about it. The only con is that macs don't have many games (which can be worked around by using boot camp and installing windows).

And if you're one of those morons that hate macs just because they don't have many pc games, than your opinion doesn't mean diddly squat.

OS X boots in about 5 seconds for me and Safari opens in under a second.

On this same computer, Windows takes about 2 minutes to get everything ready and booted up and another 10 seconds+ to open any browser.

also os x shuts down in like 2 seconds and windows takes an eternity
