Which one is supposed to be the best? I'm about 90% of the way through beating the first one, finally I actually started to play it. I'm wondering what you guys think is the best one out of the three. My friend says three though, haven't had played three, I can't see much to top over the first.

I know the gameplay will be better but MGS1 rules so hard.

MGS3: Subsistence is the best game ever. MGS2 isn't as great as the others, but you just have to play it for the brain fuck story. Even if you don't understand it, it'll blow your mind. MGS 3's story takes a far more sensible approach than 2, but still has plenty of depth and it's fair share of big twists, and the ending nearly made me shed tears.

Purely in terms of gameplay, each game greatly improves upon the last, and they each get longer too, which was really my biggest problem with MGS1. I thought they couldn't get better after MGS1 too, but I was dead wrong. Pretty much one of the greatest game series' ever.

MGS1 was plenty long. 7-10 hours.

I like the second one best.  I actually like being confined to a small area compared to a vast amount of area like in the third.

First game sucks ASS. It didn't age well at all. The controls are terrible. You should play Twin Snakes for the first game. I didn't realize how bad the first one was until I played it the other day. Third one is the best, but I still never liked the controls that much either.

MGS2 was awesome.

Personally I prefer MGS3, Then Twin Snakes (gamecube remake of Metal Gear Solid),and then Sons of liberty.

Agreed. I never actually played the original MGS, I'm basing all my opinions on it on The Twin Snakes, which is basically the same anyways.

MGS faggots always say the original had better voice acting, but the cutscenes in TS were way better.

Yeah, Metal Gear does suck.

Metal Gear Solid is one of the greatest game series evar though. Also 3 is the best. Starts off slow, but once you get going it kicks some major manly balls.

Yeah, but towards the end it's just like boss battle after boss battle after boss battle, which is great and all but it makes the game feel really short. MGS2 is more like 12 - 15 hours and MGS3 is more like 16 - 20.

My friend said he completed MGS2 in 8 hours.

I know, playing MGS1 now makes it seem so short but thats because we both know exactly what to do. I watched my brother beat it years ago and my friend beat it a year ago so I knew the drill.

The NES Metal Gear was terrible and shouldn't ever be praised. And if you played the GB ones, god rest your soul.

The GBC one was great for a GBC game.
