My favorite is Malachite (Cu2CO3(OH)2). It's rather common, and not very valuable, but the best examples of it have a striking green shade that I just love. When well-formed crystals are exposed, they've got a nice, shiny luster and commonly have bands of different shades of green covering them.

As with any mineral, it's pretty dull unless you find a specimen that happens to have large, well-formed, exposed crystals. You can find polished individual crystals of malachites pretty much anywhere that polished rocks are normally sold. Very common, like I said.

What's your favorite mineral?

(btw if what you say isn't actually a mineral i'll be happy to correct and bash you ^o^)

Morganites are also pretty awesome, which are beryls just like emeralds, only they're usually an orange to red color.

IT'S SO SHARP

It's also quite hard. It leaves good-size marks in glass, and nails can't do shit to it.
