Cool. I refuse to taste Halite while identifying it because I can usually tell what it is anyway, since most specimens are clear white and have cleavage planes occurring at 90^o angles. The only thing I've ever almost mixed it up with is Calcite, but that's slightly different even when they're both clear because Calcite cannot form right angles. More like 60-70^o.
