Well, I wouldn't recommend spraying it directly on the the iPod Touch, but I don't see anything bad happening if you spray it onto a paper towel then use it.

Assuming he wanted to remove smudges and fingerprints, I recommend wiping it with a warm towel and letting it dry for a few minutes. It works great on my iPhone and I don't have to use anything else.
