Didn't you say your fan tied too?   That would lead to several components in a system failing due to overheating, including a hard drive which would in turn fail.  psyduck;

uh anything to back it up psyduck;

uh it's kind of unlikely that hardware with a lack of moving parts will just get up one morning and spontaneously decide to break itself in half
doesn't mean it can't malfunction or fail, though

but anyways my gut instinct goes with power supply failures topping the list but whatever mr. pissy pants :|
