I'm trying to get Far Cry to work in Wine (0.9.43) using Ubuntu 7.04, and I got Far Cry installed but when I run FarCry.exe from the terminal I get a 'Segmentation Fault (Core Dumped)' error, and thats all it says.

Am I screwed?  I guess it doesn't really matter since I have Far Cry on my main gaming rig, I just wanted to try this for fun.  :)

Bassir is the smartest computer person we got. He can do it.

Are you saying you're trying to emulate a Windows video game? What the hell were you thinking? I really don't believe you can successfully emulate a video game made for Windows through something like Wine.

Its supposed to work.  Wine translates DirectX to OpenGL.

It even got a gold rating on WineHQ's AppDB

Maybe there's something wrong with your copy of FarCry?

You're trying to emulate it in a completely different OS with software still in the 0.'s. O_0

Not really. It's a great piece of software, but it still has so many flaws. The farthest I got with it, was running Trillian--but even then, it was awfully slow.

Both of which you don't need. Forget about the stuff on your Windows box, and focus on the software and shit on Linux.

I know I didn't need them, I was just playing with Wine.  :P
