I'm pretty sure they're allowed to take advantage of modern conveniences as long as they don't operate them themselves. So they can't drive a car but they can take a bus.

Ah that makes sense then. That's a lot of bumps on the road in a horse and buggy. Plus who wants to drive with Massholes.

But yeah they're attention grabbers for sure.

They speak a completely alien dialect of English. They haven't spoken much but when they do I can't understand them.

I'm just realizing now how little I know about modern Amish society. It's genuinely interesting.

I live around a ton of Amish farms. They have a ton of customs most people don't know about. I visited one of the farms before and was surprised to learn it was rude to not shut the gate after yourself when you left. And I mean the huge gate that goes across the driveway.
