Name a distro of Linux that does work on iMac G5's. Hell, even Yellowdog won't work, and it's made just for Macs. psyduck;
Sounds like you're screwing up somehow.

I've tried everything. From what I've read, there are loads of problems with trying to run Linux on iMac G5's with iSight. It has something to do with the fans and graphics or some shit.

Find and test a distro that works, and I will love you.

YDL specifically?  I couldn't find any issues like that.
Almost sounds as if you didn't burn the iso file right.

I've tried loads of distros, and none of them work. Ubuntu will start to load up, then the screen goes black. Fedora core is the only one that does work, but it has the fan problem and I don't want to partition my HD and lose my data.

OS X gives me all I need, but sometimes I just want a little variety.

Why would partitioning your hard drive wipe your data?
Unless you were a complete idiot, of course.

If it leaves you wanting variety, then obviously it's not giving you everything you need. flower;

You'd always have to format the partition you make.  That's why you shrink your primary first.  psyduck;
