the team that eventually went on to develop the last of us had been trying to weave some of its darker narrative ideas into uncharted well before they split

elena, for example, would have died in uncharted 2 had it been up to them

now as much as i love the last of us, that darker tone i fear would be highly inappropriate for a game as whimsical as uncharted, so hearing that both amy and her original plot draft have been completely replaced by the writers of the last of us, not to mention the implications of uncharted 4's subtitle, plus the general tone of some of the footage we've seen, makes me a tad wary of just how much a departure uncharted 4 will be from the previous 3 entries in terms of seriousness

But with the end of this story it will be really hard to do a sequel with Nathan Drake. Maybe there'll be a prequel, maybe it will be a different character - I don't know. But this is the end for Nathan Drake.
