should i just get the dlc bundle right now despite not getting mk8 for a couple weeks lol

I don't think you can without the game.

Hiro

well there's a purchase option on the listing in the eshop so

Samus Aran

the shop has a feature where it'll ask you if you have the correct game before you buy something, but i don't know if it actually prevents you from doing so in any way

bluaki

Nintendo's eShop isn't smart enough to know about games you own physically. You don't need to have the disc inserted in order to buy DLC. eShop also doesn't look at the records of which games you have ever launched.

TooB

the only time with nintendo that you cant buy dlc without the game is on 3ds. if you try to buy dlc in the eshop, it launches the game to buy it there.

Classic

Maybe I was mixing it up with the 3DS eShop.

also, dlc pack 2 trailer:

i absolutely love this giggle;

the season is randomized with every race, and each season seems to have its own accompanying theme song

in addition to isabelle and dry bowser, the other new character is the villager, in male and female varieties

giggle; giggle;

on a semi-related note, mario kart ds (still the best mk game) comes to wii u on april 23

also, this has to be the only instance in gaming history in which a product ends up being released earlier than initially announced

it was previously slated for sometime in may

I'm pretty sure that, until today, it was slated as just "Spring 2015" without any month. I've never seen a claim that this will be May. confuseddood;

Also, this same April 23 update adds support for more amiibo: Mega Man, Pac Man, Sonic, Olimar, Toad, Bowser, Rosalina, Villager, Wario. Like the 10 amiibo that were supported before, these ones unlock more (honestly useless) costumes for your Mii Racer.

Kalahari Inkantation

nintendo's definitely specifically said may before, as confirmed by some older articles on the subject:

Quote from: http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/11/05/mario-kart-8-november-dlc-release-date-announcedThe second pack is due for release in May 2015.

Quote from: http://kotaku.com/mario-kart-8s-dlc-is-great-but-it-still-needs-more-1658833270All of this is available for $7.99, or $11.99 if you purchase it along with the second DLC pack, which is coming in May 2015 and adds an equal amount of new stuff to the game.

and more recently,

Quote from: http://www.engadget.com/2015/04/01/mario-kart-8-animal-crossing-dlc-200cc/The next round of downloadable content for Mario Kart 8, a pack featuring tracks and items from the Animal Crossing series, will hit the Wii U on April 23rd, Nintendo announced today. The DLC pack was originally scheduled to launch in May. Hooray!

i guess they wanted to do something to make up for that zelda delay n_u
