obama's intervention in syria is the reason ISIS is a growing power

obama's limp wristed attempt at health care reform is disappointing

obama's refusal to limit the growing power of businesses shows he's just a republican on the inside

also arresting whistleblowers and expanding the usage of drones and bombing weddings in the middle east

that was a pretty expansive multinational effort

the reform didn't happen in a vacuum, it needed to be realistic so that it could pass (remember the blue dog democrats?), and it did, and it's a step in the right direction—a slippery slope to socialized healthcare, if you will

What is he gonna do there? Congress has all the power there, and Dodd Frank was probably the last thing Congress is gonna do on the matter until it's a bit less red, which will be a while because gerrymandering. Tea Partiers equate freedom with laissez faire, and these psychos are winning the primaries in these heavily gerrymandered districts.

And honestly there is no precedent for how hard you have to be on whistleblowers, the executive government cannot really be expected to be limp on these matters.

Yeah, you're far left on the political spectrum—so am I. But this country has gerrymandering, a first past the post voting system, and several administrations worth of mediocre supreme court appointments... it's going to be a while before it's as liberal as you or I want it to be, but let's not drag our feet and think for one second that it's pointless to engage in the political system by completely dismissing our first sane president in quite some time—it's dangerous and puts you in the same camp as the neo-Nazi teabaggers that hold onto antiquated economic myths and ignorance.

guess who tends to push for intervention in other countries. hint: it's usually not europe, just america and israel. the "rebels" we were arming were al qaeda and much of what is now isis. to solve this, we're sending more weapons to unknown "rebels" in syria. guess whose hands those weapons end up in.

instead of having socialized healthcare that'd work, we're now forced to give money to corporations. mandating a corporate middleman benefits no one since those companies are just an infinite matryoshka of bureaucracy with your money being wasted to support some worthless boomer's paycheck.

well for one he could not appoint corporate lobbyists to positions of authority http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Wheeler
that's something that's completely within his power.
he could also go to congress and propose some sort of change but i've seen no effort on his part. he could at least propose a solution to corporate tax loopholes, but that would mean he'd lose some friends.
he could also cut off all ties with israel and try to build stronger relations with iran and we could actually have some peace in the middle east

"we can't be lenient on people catching us violating constitutional limiting on unreasonable searches. we cannot be lenient on people who make it known that we spy on our allies"

really though the nazis took a shithole and turned it into the most powerful country on earth in just a few years

if obama was hitler this country might actually be something

American isolationism isn't going to happen, the US is going to take steps to intervene in certain matters, and its "intervention" in Syria is not as simple as you think. Its purpose was to make sure Assad's chemical weapons weren't being used or seized by rebels, and to arm the Free Syrian Army. ISIS and the other Islamic groups were not directly armed—besides, the arms that IS has comes from the Iraqi Army, which came from the US, and the Iraqi Army couldn't handle IS because the Bush administration was naive in their understanding of the sectarian issues in Iraq and was pretty retarded in thinking disbanding Sadaam's army was smart.

The important thing is the ACA is better than what we had before—it's essentially an expansion of medicaid, and increased governmental regulations in the insurance market. It's going to lead to socialized healthcare.

Obama's appointees have to go through the Senate, and the republican minority there filibusters everything.

Also, cutting off all ties with Israel—a nation which the US uses as a strategic military partner for calculated geopolitical reasons, including keeping Russia and China in check... is not gonna happen. Sure, American support of Israel is partly the reason why Middle Eastern countries "hate" the US, but it's also because rogue states always direct their hatred towards the Hedgemon. Besides, the Obama administration' policies on Iran have been pretty lenient compared to "bomb Iran" McCain and Romney.

If you think good relations with the Shi'ite nation of Iran is going to create "peace in the middle east" then you're about as ignorant as any white conservative who thinks nuking the entire region is going to create "peace in the middle east."

Come on, dude, everything is more complicated than you think. Why do you paint everything so black and white?

ncba93ivyase

yes because israel is totally our ally and we don't have groups like aipac infiltrating our government or israeli spies working against us and them starting conflicts and then having the us do the fighting

and assad is a true freedom fighter.

and disregarding religious differences iran is a major force within the region and i don't think any country would be dumb enough to start a conflict with them aside from saudi arabia and israel, countries which love handling their conflicts through proxy since they can't do anything themselves.

syria and iran are allied
egypt and iran have strengthening ties
iran and turkey have good relations
lebanon and iran have no real disputes between each other

saudi arabia is controlled by extremists at all levels. iran's population has a generally favorable view on the west and the only real concern is that they're run by a theocratic government which is still far better than saudi arabia's. literally the only reason we're allied with israel and saudi arabia over iran is money.

obama's policies aren't any different from bush's.

QuoteYet a 2009 World Public Opinion poll found that 51 percent of Iranians hold a favorable opinion of Americans, a number consistent with other polls, meaning that Americans are more widely liked in Iran than anywhere else in the Middle East. The U.S. favorability rating isn't even that high in U.S. allies India or Turkey,

now why aren't we allies with them

I like Jews.  Don't understand all the hate.  Is it because they're very often smart or powerful?  You can strive to bring down great men or become them.  You can also accept yourself as a pointless shit, instead of adopting conspiracy to excuse your worthlessness.

Snowy

I'm a Jew and neither powerful or smart.

israel is literally the reason we consider Iran an enemy

Israel has been lying that Iran is 90% of the way to completing a nuclear bomb for over 10 years now and they claim that they're building one just to destroy israel

Oh! I didn't know this.  I now hate Jews and believe they are part of a plot to control everyone on the planet.
