it's just frants

it was a deal years in the making that just happened to end up coinciding with russia's renewed revanchism, and even within france there's significant discontent about the sale lol

it's not like russia started being itself again and then all of nato decided 'yeah now would be a great time to make a buck arming them with warships'
France isn't just France though.  They're a significant power within the EU lol

They know exactly who these ships will be used against so still handing them over is just dumb

it's not like the rest of the eu agrees to it though lol, everyone think's it's dumb

the other eu powers are extremely uncomfortable with the situation france is in

even france is extremely uncomfortable with the situation it's stuck in (though i guess not quite enough to turn away the big bux)

but the rest of the eu is powerless to stop a transaction between any of its individual members and a third party lol (((one good day the eu will federalize and this will never be a problem again :'()))

this sale (and also germoney's reluctance to impose any serious economic sanctions on russia) does however clearly demonstrate a significant lack of common goals within the eu/nato, which russia is surely taking notice of and will most def. use to its advantage in the future

how come russia simply doesn't seem to understand that making your neighbors hate you isn't going to make them want to join you lol

all that ever achieves is creating a deeper divide

every single country who has ever been in russia's """sphere of influence""" either cringes at the memory or is actively seeking to escape it for the greener pastures next door (except everyone's favorite lapdog belarus, lol)

QuoteRussia has created a series of breakaway regions like Transnistria in former Soviet republics that get too close to Europe, making them unpalatable allies. There has been some speculation that their ultimate objective in eastern Ukraine is the same ā€" creating a terminally unstable region that will make the European Union and NATO leery.

No way...

i bet it's the betrayal by soviet brothers latvia/lithuania/estonia that really set them off

they're the reason russia directly borders the degenerate west

europe stole russia's cushions from under its rump and now putin's taking them back

now in addition to ukraine we have moldova and georgia (coincidentally, all three of the nations russia has infected with separatist tumors)
amazing how putin has escalated things to such a level that we're willing to fight over moldova
Quote“China already has enough gas from Central Asia, and now Myanmar, until the mid-2020s [...] Unless Russia made a compromise on price, China has no reason to sign it.”

QuoteIf the gas deal went ahead in the coming period, Mr. Shi said, it would be “a Chinese financial assistance contract for Russia in guise of commercial payment.”

yes

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

even china can see clearly through russia's actions

which means for now they will continue to remain susceptible to western economic behavior

looks like you're still stuck with us, putin, unless you want to accept an unsustainable pennies to the gallon happydood;
let's hope that doesn't change in the foreseeable future
