So when do you think post offices will disappear? At what point will things become all digital? Will we ever be able to print all of the things we order online?

bluaki

I don't know about the precision required for other things, but at least electronics (especially processors) have such an elaborate manufacturing process that they can probably never be reproduced by consumer devices

I haven't been paying any attention at all to 3D printing news

don't let's

Well I mean like centuries from now even

it'd be a very long time away if it ever happened.  i remember reading about some guy who wanted to make a line of 3d-printed cases for phones but the quality control on the protypes is all over the place, some were just rough cut plastic and others had dyes on them that just rubbed off onto the phone.  so, bluaki's pretty much right.

applesauce

3d printers are good for some things... like architectural models, parts for DIY machines, ect... they are not good for most consumer goods.

In high school we used a 3d printer to make most of the parts for this robot. Even after they came out of the printer it took a couple hours of hand work to trim some things off and tap holes, ect.

Even if 3d printers/weavers/crazy shit somehow became possible in 300 years... Fancy things like what blu said would be next to impossible to make.

??????

this guy i used to date used to work for a company in downtown brooklyn that made 3d printers

he made a plastic cat
it was jagged, had no details and looked geometric
SUPPOSEDLY PARANORMAN USED 3D PRINTERS BUT I COULDN'T SEE HOW

Hiro

there are lots of different types of 3d printers and they have vastly improved in recent years
