Snorkel has proposed making Boyah public, but he wants us to determine the degree of publicity we want from the bare minimum like reenabling Google indexing to the extreme option of advertising on nsider2.

I wouldn't mind it being indexed on google, but still have some boards off limits until you reach a certain post-count.

Possibly a guest board?

applesauce

I would be upset if Offline Discussion were public or google indexed.

in the event we choose to "go google" the boards with highest concentration of personal info will remain private and noindexed

Snowy

What's the post number needed for the Offline Board anyway? Isn't it like 50 or something?

But seriously, I think a guest board would be cool. People who have registered and are awaiting approval could post there and we could get the general feel of them beforehand.

guest boards are lame
but think of all the bot posts

so all of the boards worth reading?

don't let's

Just create a second "lobby" populate it a little bit and new users will only have access to that board, and put all the now active users in a secondary user group that has access to all current boards as they are now. And then we never tell the new members that there are any other boards.

Yeah, we could do that.

nsider2 + new member "lobby" = ban for anyone you think is ridiculously unable to allow membership to

We're already public. We're just not whores. But I have nothing to hide, so I say yeah. We need some fresh new faces, like a line of coke or something to liven things up.

strongbad

i personally think that you shouldnt have to register to view the board
there's been a few times that i've linked friends of mine to something on boyah and they were like fuck that i dont want to register for something

snoorkel

my personal preference would be to have the board open to instant registrations, and a static site on boyah.net in a blog format or something where we post "articles" about things we're interested in (for purposes of search engine rank optimization)
