Are there any other photographers here? I've been taking pictures of random crap since I was about eight, and now I've moved from using an old disposable film camera to a Nikon D50 with a Nikor 75-350mm lens. Here's some of my work, although most of it is on my other computer (this is primarily either unedited pictures of pictures that I played with using black and white).

I've always been kind of interested in photography, but I've never actually been able to get my hands on a decent camera. All I've got is a shitty little camera phone that takes horrible quality pictures.

I really like that picture of your Schnauzer, along with those leaf pictures.

Bird one is all right, but if it was in the center it would be a lot better.

The dog one looks good, but there's definitely something missing.

The abandoned railroad track is awesome, very errie, and I just love it.

Rocks are strange, but cool at the same time.

Snow on a branch, the same as the rocks.

The first leaf looks really nice, great shot.

Second one looks right out of a movie in like HDTV, great.

At first, I just happened to catch the picture that way (the bird was flying too fast to angle it). But later, I learned of the rule of thirds. Which basically is a photographer's philosophy that most pictures should never be in the center. For example, take the one of the wet leaf (the second one). Now imagine if I had put that in the center. The only real way to pull that off would be if it was an advertisement for something, with the leaf as the logo. Later tonight, I'll put the bird in the middle (as the background is pretty easy to edge out), and show you what I mean.

As for the schnauzer one, I understand what you mean. If you ask me, I think the range of focus is too small. Had some of her neck been focused in as well as the head, it would add a little more realness to it. But that picture was taken literally two days after I had gotten the camera, so I didn't know a lick of the terminology (not that I know much more of it now). I guess the curves and the contrast saved the picture, as without it, the picture would most likely be pretty bad (the background was a bright-blue rug on brown tile, with the schnauzer being purely grey).

The grass one is great; the others aren't much special.

I took a few pictures this past week with my camera, and I might upload a few of the better ones.
