Why what an intriguing subject matter you present. I too have often dwelt on the possibility of the current Government creating a higher tax on video games. They have done so with other "Addictive" products, such as alcohol and tobacco products. The reason being that people will still purchase these items even though their prices are inflated with taxes. Applying this same taxing structure to the video game market, the government could have another high source of  income. It would be very idiotic for them not to take advantage of this market. Think , if game prices went up maybe say $10 or $15 you would most likely still purchase the games. It would also rid the market of casual gamers, seeing as "hardcore" gamers would be the only people willing to pay these newly high prices.
