Girls generally don't like people for being assholes and people that consider themselves "nice guys" are generally complete dicks. I'd know from experience.

More than anything, women prefer guys with a "don't give a shit" personality. The less you whine and cry or struggle to impress, the more appealing you are to most women. Quit comparing yourself to other men and quit thinking you're better and things will steadily improve.
