Was college everything you thought it would be?

I mean, high schoolers, such as myself, have all of these preconceived notions about what goes on at college. I hear from some people that it's party party all the time no matter where you dorm, and from others that it's the chillest place ever.

So college students, if you don't mind, walk me through an average day in college  hocuspocus;

also 3/3 topics for today yay

It's nothing like what I thought it would be. I thought that somehow, by virtue of simply being a college student, social skills would suddenly fly out of my ass and girls would flock to me and my life would be awesome.

Instead, it sucks ass.

No, I didn't get a true dorm experience and got stuck in a building full of shallow people from rich families... then I wasted the first few months trying to make it work with this one girl and not expanding my group of friends so by the time it got broken off I had to try to break into already formed circles of friends which really really sucked. I'm still looking for a better group of friends because the group I've been hanging with is pretty lame honestly... So my advice is to get out and meet people and don't invest too much in college relationships your first year because freshmen are hornier than a group of rabbits during heat and that means no one's looking for anything meaningful.

As far as the freedom goes, yeah college is pretty great. Pretty much the only thing I miss about home life is the food, other than that I love being off on my own and making my own schedule each day. It's really easy to fall into bad routines though so you just have to impose self-discipline about when to get work done and when to have fun. But yeah in the dorms there will always be something going on somewhere if you're looking for it and the communal experience is really something special... sharing stuff such as bathrooms can suck but the way everyone interacts is really kind of cool.

I could say a lot more but I really should hit the hay...

Zach

Yeah, that whole "circle of friends" thing hasn't worked out for me, either.

It wasn't EVERYTHING I thought it would be, because I didn't get laid...

But for the most part, yea. It takes a few weeks to get used to, then it's awesome. You're all on your own and you can do things without people stopping you, you feel much more independent. Classes suck, but they are broken up unlike school, so it seems like you have much more free time.

There's all sorts of people, and since I go to a public college in New York, there's tons of rich Long Island pricks at my school. But I was lucky and was able to make a group of a bunch of really great friends that I chill with all the time. We're also living in a 6-person suite next year so I'm pumped.

As for weekends, they are alright. We drink in the dorm together first, then go out to house parties and have as much fun as possible. It's usually a good time.

Yea, college is pretty cool. I just hope I find a girl sometime before I graduate.

Personally, I can't wait for getting drunk every night and getting put on academic probation.  n_u

You know, if you put getting laid on such a high pedestal, you're going to be disappointed when it finally happens.

Anyway, yeah, college pretty much turned out to be the way I figured it would be. I go to a small, laid-back school, and college has been a really relaxed experience for me as a result. I've been able to get my own room every semester, I've been able to take all the classes I wanted, and in the meantime I feel I've really grown as a person and especially as a writer. I never expected college to do more than that for me, and because of that, I've had a good time. I'll miss it when it's over, I'm sure.

I went to a small Catholic college for my first few years.. It was basically similar to high school but with more freedom.  I loved it my first year because it was my first experience away from home.  Then I realized a Catholic college wasn't for me due to bigotry and intolerance (yay!).  So this year I am transferring to a public university system for my last two years (oh geeze, I'll never graduate).  I'm really excited about it though.  :3

Basically, make sure you're going to a college that fits your personality...

pompous talk for my eyes water and quiver with a twitch like a little bitch

Cool

Not at all. Got stuck with some shit damn bitches and it appears to be the case for next year. Don't go to college with a relationship because COLLEGE WILL KILL IT DEAD. Also you don't want to be tied down to someone. However through it all I still managed to fall in love. giggle;

Do your readings. I know that there are a million and a half other things that are seemingly more important than it but I swear to god if you don't do your readings you're going to find yourself in a very uncomfortable position down the road. akudood;
Some might say that's enough. Some might say I'm too hard to please. But some need to shut their fucking mouths.
