2.) why they're popular
3.) why it bothers you

They're basically rubber bands that are made to take the shape of something when untwisted. People tend to wear them as bracelets although they're rather uncomfortable due to the weird shape. Because they're cheap junk, lots of people give them away freely to friends or whatever.

And yet, I may partially be the reason they started gaining popularity at my little sister's elementary school after I gave her one that I was given but didn't want and she flaunted it around
