so i'm officially a music composition major

For some goddamned reason I went to the music secretary's office this morning and told them I wanted to change my major to music composition after I attended a concert featuring the music of Frank Techeli last night. He's a world-famous composer that has been on campus all this week and it kind of rekindled my desire to be a composer. I thought about doing music composition during the summer, but I ultimately decided on journalism. However, I've officially made the switch and I'll be in college for the next six years since it takes forever to get a music degree. Motherfucker.

I've fucked around with Finale before and know a little basic theory. You don't have to have any real experience to be in the program - you get lessons and have to take ample amounts of theory and everything. I can also switch the emphasis to performance later if composition doesn't work out.

Nice, I've thought about taking some music courses myself. Not as a major or minor but just for kicks

Yeah, I'm a percussionist, albeit a shitty one. I'm in the marching band as a member of the drumline since they give me scholarship money. I used to play clarinet, also, so I have some experience with a real instrument. I have a trombone that I need to learn how to play.

I can see psychology being a decent choice. Philosophy is , but pretty useless in terms of careers.
