A purulent discharge (a whitish-yellow, yellow or yellow-brown substance more commonly known as pus) strongly suggests bacterial cause from fecal matter, unless there is known exposure to toxins. Pink eye can also be caused by bacteria from faeces, pet hair, or by smoke or other fumes. Infection with Neisseria gonorrhoeae should be suspected if the discharge is particularly thick and copious.

I guess I never thought about where pinkeye actually comes from, all I knew is that it's easy to catch from people who already have it. I had it once, real mild case though.

i've had pinkeye-like symptoms in one eye for about two weeks now, and apparently it's not contagious because even the other eye is perfect
so i really have no idea what it is and the doctor just threw pills and eyedrops at me and i overdosed
