Hi Guff,         what's the best position when sleeping in a car. Usually I'm to lazy to go into the back seats or the very back(trunk) so I just recline the drivers seat...and stretch out across the driver and shotgun seats, and its usually uncomfortable. Then once I found a good head rest against my left door...separation.

I feel weird though when people walk by, and I'm trying to sleep in a college parking lot.

well it's harder than it seems
my driver's seat has controls for moving back and forth as you'd expect but also allows for the seat to tilt back or forward so of course i move the seat as far back as i can and tilt it towards the back
the issue here is that there's still not quite enough leg room but i've yet to find a workaround for this

what helps is that i actually have a pillow in the car which makes using the door as a headrest more comfortable
there's a thingy that separates the driver and passenger seats in my car which would make stretching across them impractical so i've yet to try that but i imagine it would still be a bit cramped

it can be even more awkward if you have ingrid michaelson blasting out of your stereo too  akudood;

Nice. Well....I have a handbrake in the way between front seats, but I'd just put it down/off if I wanted to sleep.
Hmm...    steering wheel really is a burden and cramps your leg room. I think I should try out sleeping in the passenger (shotgun) seat.
Sun shades on the front pane of glass....window (wow I'm really tired right now)    also really help to create a private sector, haha.

And maybe I'm insecure but I always feel safer when I lock my doors before closing my eyes. Like aaawh now no one's going to be able to intrude on my sleep.

Veal

I usually just recline the driver's seat and then curl up on that, using the headrest as a headrest and such.
