Is there a way to speed up VNC?

It's so slow when it returns back to my Client.


Typing and input is delayed by a second or twofrom Chicken of the VNC to Ubuntu, but to register everything it takes like 4 seconds to to go from Ubuntu back to my mac. ;-;
