It's more life related than arts related I think. So I put it here  baddood;

Anyway,

Mars Volta - This Apparatus Must Be Unearthed
Holy shit, this song on maximum volume, cruising down the highway makes it even better. it is like a totally different song almost. And the freaking drum fill-in part after "now it wont be looooooong...." is like the shortest orgasm in history.

Beatles - Hey Jude
Primarily because I love singing it and I usually only sing with all my heart in the confines of my car.

U2 - Red Hill Mining Town
It is such a beautiful and free-like song that it's like perfect for driving to

Allman Bros. - In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, from At Fillmore East. The entire album is amazing driving music.

The Pixies - Letter to Memphis. When I don't feel like listening to Allman Bros, I feel like listening to music like this.

Aesop Rock - Catacomb Kids. Nothin' quite like driving, road noises, wind blowing, and hip-hop.

YPrrrr

Techno is pretty fun to drive to... DJ Splash is a favorite artist, with "This is my Life" being one of his better songs

Samus Aran

I'm the same way with Hey Jude. That and Let it Be are my favorite Beatles songs to drive to because I love singing them but I will only sing with all my heart in my car.

Some songs that are on my usual driving playlists:

"All Right Now" by Free
"It Never Rains in Southern California" by Albert Hammond
"Communication Breakdown" by Led Zeppelin
"Radar Love" by Golden Earring
"Keep Your Hands to Yourself" by The Georgia Satellites
"Touch Me" by The Doors
"Supermassive Black Hole" by Muse
"Live Forever" by Oasis
"Desperado" by The Eagles
"The Last Resort" by The Eagles
"Mellow Yellow" by Donovan
"Suffragette City" by David Bowie
"Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac
"Tom Sawyer" by Rush
"ME 262" by Blue Oyster Cult
"Have Love Will Travel" by The Black Keys
"Little Willy" by Sweet
"Don't Bring Me Down" by Electric Light Orchestra
"Just What I Needed" by The Cars
"Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Pt. 1" by The Flaming Lips
"Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd

These are basically just songs that I love singing along with. Thus, I play them while driving a lot. And of course, that's only a very short part of the list.

HELL YES

Skylark

there are lots that I can't remember that I'm sure
but really anything that fits at that moment but especially

Paul Baribeau's self-titled album is just perfect for driving all over

and Circle's Round the Moon - Nana Grizol
the book of right on

Houdini

"Red Barchetta" by Rush is pretty great to drive to for reasons that should be obvious to anyone who knows the song. Aside from that, I mostly like to drive to Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada since they keep me relaxed and calm.

The Hand That Fisted Everyone

Cities from disc 2 of The Name of This Band is Talking Heads

great song, I love to sing and drive to that at the same time.

It's No Good by Depeche Mode

Houdini said it was good driving music in another thread like this. I recently bought it and he was right.
especially Useless and It's No Good

Birdhouse in Your Sould by They Might Be Giants

What A Day That Was by David Byrne
From his Live at Austin Tx disc.

Spirit Voices by Paul Simon

Pretty Much the whole cd of David Byrne's self titled album

Samus Aran

Also, I just realized that Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains the Same" is perfect for driving.

sammy hagar kinda sorta sucks

That's the common opinion, but he's had some pretty good tunes. Was great in Montrose.

That's why I said "kinda sorta." He has some mildly catchy tunes, but by and large he's pretty boring. I don't mind listening to a Hagar or Hagar-Halen song now and then, but I don't find them all that entertaining.

Selkie

Only good Hagar-Halen tune is Right Now

And really it is only great until Hagar starts singing, then its mediocre lol.
