I'd go for the second I guess, though I'd get at least a 32" one.

What's the point of getting 42" television if the picture quality isn't going to be good?

Smaller television sets are better on the eyes. The better quality is a great plus too.

A standard definition TV is going to be a standard definition TV no matter what the size so they are basically just blowing the standard definition picture up and it's going to look like shit. Go for the 720p tv.

my parents have a 26" in their bedroom, but like if you were to put it in a family room, it'd be rather small X:
