Reverse Psychology

Welcome to Power On (RP). This is the place for role playing and interactive stories about your favorite Nintendo video games. To make sure that everything goes smoothly here, we've set up a few rules. Please review these rules before posting on this board.  It is not necessary to re-post these rules in your RP.

RP Guidelines

   1. All regular forum rules and unwritten rules apply on this board.  Under no circumstances are flaming and malicious spamming OK things to do in an RP.

   2. Your RP must be based on video games which appear on Nintendo systems. Please limit your topics to franchises and licenses which are exclusive to video games. For example, an RP about The Lord of the Rings would not be allowed because it is based on a book/movie. A good question to ask yourself is ... "Did this topic originate as a video game? Was it a video game BEFORE it was a movie, book or anything else?" If the answer is yes, and it has appeared on a Nintendo system, then your topic is OK.

   3. RPs are not the place for chat. If we see RP threads being used for chat, they will be locked.  This applies to location-based RPs like cafes.  You must behave as if you are in that location at all times.

   4. The first post in a new RP thread must include detailed rules, ranks and the initial storyline. Interactive stories only require a starting story.  Please remember that your story should be more than one sentence long.  This is a creative process.  Putting effort into your RP story will bring good results.

   5. One word posts are not allowed. You should not make a post in an RP thread unless it is in character and adds to the storyline.

   6. OOC, or "out of character" chat, is not allowed.  If you cannot convey your comment in character then send it in a PM or arrange for a meeting at the Launch Pad.

   7. No RP is allowed to attack another RP unless both groups have agreed to battle.  Not everyone is here to fight, so please be respectful of other RPs and what activities they want to be involved in.  Battling is allowed, but do so with dignity and honor!  Give your opponents a chance to accept or decline your challenge before striking.

You're encouraged to customize your battle arrangements.  You can set a time and date to battle, or allow battles 24/7.  The moderators have arranged an official open battle agreement here.  Make a plan that's most convenient for your RPs.  Also, these agreements can be made in or out of character, depending on the nature of your RP (it's best to outline special battle arrangements in the first post of an RP).  The moderators simply ask that somewhere, with words, you acknowledge that battling between each other is a mutually accepted part of your role-playing.

Any unwanted battles or attacks will be stopped by a moderator.  Offenders will be subject to bans, so please take this rule seriously.  Without the consent of other RPs, the battles and attacks of an RP must stay in that RP's thread.  Attacks must not be personal insults or flames.

   8. The leader of an RP has the final say, but they are also bound to the forum rules as everyone else is.  Leaders are not allowed to "ban" members from their RP.  If a user is causing problems, contact a moderator.  The moderators alone are responsible for policing the forums.

   9. Do not attempt to control an RP if you don't hold a leadership position in that RP.  The thread-starter is responsible for leadership decisions and appointing such roles.  You can't force the participants of an RP to agree to become involved in an outside project or RP.

  10. If you dislike the way an RP functions, you are welcome to create your own or arrange to discuss it peacefully at the Launch Pad.  Do not create a new RP out of bitterness with flame comments or it will be locked.  Attempting to get an RP locked will be considered an attack against the RP.

  11. Do not take over an RP without the permission of the original author or leader.  Leaders can't be forced out of their own RPs.  If a leader vanishes for an extended amount of time, and has failed to respond to private messages, please discuss leadership change with a moderator.

  12. Please do not make posts just to "bump" your RP. If we see this happening we will lock the thread.

  13. For military RPs, try to maintain a set of standards. Revival in battles is up to the head of the RP. Please see the rules posted in the first post of each RP for details.

  14. "Invulnerable characters" or "one-hit, one-kill attacks" are not allowed.

  15. Please do not create extra threads for your RP.  If you start an RP, keep it all in one topic.  Do not disrupt the activity of one RP by bringing arguments, issues, and/or advertisements from another RP to it.  Keep the RP limited to role-playing based on the first post.

  16. Do not send unsolicited Private Messages to other members about your RP.

  17. RPs or organizations designed to enforce forum rules are not allowed. That's what mods and NOAs are here to do.

  18. Most of all, have fun!

How to Handle Locked RPs

If your RP was locked, the moderators felt it didn't meet these guidelines.  You can arrange for your RP to open again by contacting Humu through a private message (PM) and discussing edits.  Kattixie can also help.

Interactive Story Guidelines

   1. All regular forum rules and unwritten rules apply on this board.  Under no circumstances are flaming and malicious spamming OK things to do in an Interactive Story.

   2. Your Interactive Story must be based on video games or characters which appear on Nintendo systems. Please limit your topics to franchises and licenses which are exclusive to video games.

   3. Each participant must post at least a paragraph per post. One line stories are NOT allowed.

   4. Do not quote more than one post. If you are replying to someone?s post and they?ve already quoted another post within theirs, DO NOT QUOTE IT. Excessive quoting is annoying and makes it very hard to follow the story. You can instead copy and paste the post you?re replying to. Ex:

Mario2820**X wrote: Link swung his sword with all his might.......

      or

      >Link swung his sword with all his might........

   5. Stories are not the place for chat. If we see Story threads being used for chat, they will be locked.

   6. Please do not make posts just to "bump" your Story. If we see this happening we will lock the thread.

   7. Most of all, have fun!

How to Report Problems

    * Handle spam, flames, or attacks against an RP or Story by using the Report Abuse to Moderator option.  If the posts come from a repeat offender, please note this in the abuse report.  There are so many reports that sometimes it is difficult for the moderators to see the problem has occurred before.

    * Specific RP or Interactive Story issues, such as whether or not an RP/Story meets these guidelines or how to make a good RP/Story, should be discussed by sending a private message (PM) to the Knight of Hyrule, HUMUHUMU...TED.  Repeat problems that haven't been handled through abuse reports should also be discussed with Humu.

Thanks!
