Depends on how much I can get by selling my current guitar. If I get enough, I'll buy a Les Paul.

I know I won't get anywhere near 1800, but I'll see how much I can get.

Well there certainly are alternatives. There's smaller models, as well as models that don't quite feature everything the Les Paul is famous for. You can get some for under $1000 and still get the Gibson name, but I can't say how happy you'd be with that.

My current guitar I think was around 600, and I'm pretty happy with it. As long as it produces a nice sound I'm okay with it.
