If you couldn't, I'm sure they would black out the rename option.

I'm sure there is a reason that you would need to rename it in certain situations, but if you just want to rename it "M@77'$ $H17", then you could seriously mess some stuff up.
You can rename it.
But whatever you do, don't rename your home folder.

Yeah, just select the icon on your Desktop and slow double click to rename it. Mine is named "Descartes".
