Though, i'm on wireless. I think it's twice as fast on the main computer.

Wrong. I really doubt you have 54MBPS. Your router can transfer data at that speed but your connection probably isn't nearly that high.

it have five bars for signal strength and says i have 54.0 mbps

Also, when your connection speed says 54mbps, that's megabits, not megabytes, I believe. So divide by 8 to get the actual megabyte/second rate.
