Okay, so, I know its name. And i know about the built in HD thing. But when does it come out, and how much will it cost? What does it come completely with. Will it come with what the $399 360 does? And what more will it offer? I have a friend that's asking me, and I'm curious myself. caterpie;
The thing the 399$ has is a hard-drive, smart ass. pseudo;
$480, and it has nothing more than an excessively large HDD.
I hate to admit it, but the PS3 is a far better deal, because the Elite doesn't have wireless or built-in support for a high-def media format.

But that's just cause the price-tag. If the Elite was less expensive, it would be WAY fuckin' better. magician;

Well, I mean would it be better to wait to buy the elite, than the $399 version that's out now? Or would I be safe to buy one now?

If HDTV's were $20 in 1999, they would have been WAY fucking better.
Price=/=actual value.
Hell, even the $129 DS Lite supports Wifi. psyduck;
According to Xbox.com:
"Xbox 360â„¢ Elite is the newest addition to the Xbox family that includes a huge 120GB hard drive (the largest available for any gaming console), a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) cable, and a premium black finish. The Xbox 360 Elite also includes a black wireless controller and black Xbox LIVEÃ,® headset."
It's good if you plan to download a lot from the video marketplace or if you're an extreme HD/graphics whore. I'm fine with the premium 360.

If the PS3 still had the lower end model, yeah, I would agree with you. At the moment, the Elite is $120 cheaper, has HDMI, a larger hard drive, and the most important things of all: Games. Most of the games coming out for the PS3 at the moment are ports of 360 titles, most of which are worse then the 360 version, or are only marginally improved. If want an example, just look at FEAR on the 360 then FEAR on the PS3.
The PS3 isn't worth the price now and probably won't be until next year.

The thing is, I have no reason to use the high-def media format until I can get a blu-ray burner.

And Microsoft is only supporting HD-DVD.
You'd be supporting the wrong platform.

Microsoft said they'd go with whichever format makes it, but as of now it's only HD-DVD for 360
I really could care less with the HD stuff, only reason I'm buying a Elite is for the black suposebly limited edition. And I've heard the color black is the limited edition but the elite itself (Hardware) is staying.

A bottle of spraypaint will save you $80, and "limited edition" means the product will
only last 5 years.

So, just in time for next generation?
Or will we be waiting 10 years for the next Playstation? Because the PS3 is doing oh so well to justify 5 extra years on the market. flower;

Shooters.
TOO MANY SHOOTERS.
Hey, it has Oblivion, the superior Madden, Viva Pinata, Test Drive Unlimited, and so many other gems. I like the 360 more then the Wii and the only shooter I have is CoD2.
Should have made it have a built in HD-DVD player

That would of defeated the purpose of them adding the 120GB harddrive which is to push the video marketplace forward.
